Where Christians Can Freely Hear

Moses Read on Sabbath (Acts 15:21, James 2:2)

and Celebrate God's Feasts (1st Corinthians 5:7-8) While Still In Communion With The Universal Church (1st Corinthians 1:10)

Disciples of The Way

About Us

We affirm the theological—not political—conclusions of the seven ecumenical councils (with the apostolic Council of Jerusalem in Acts 15 as the first, and the Sixth Ecumenical Council—Constantinople III—as the seventh, since these seven councils form the universally recognized doctrinal core of the early Church. We respect but cannot treat Nicaea 2 as universally received since not all patriarchs were present along with the opposing council of Hiera having more bishops).

We do not require the Biblical Calendar & Dietary Laws for salvation. We see all Sunday churches who are in agreement with these 7 ecumenical councils and governed by biblically qualified elders as valid churches. Therefore, followers of Jesus whether Jew or Gentile that agree and who are respectfully curious are invited to visit. This ministry was started out of necessity. For too long we've seen people weaponize the Biblical Calendar & Dietary laws when the Apostles already settled in Acts 15 that we aren't saved by the Law. For too long we've seen families leave valid Sunday churches and schism the body of Christ over them without first having a congregation of biblically qualified elders and deacons to transition to. For too long we've seen believers isolate, replace gathering with YouTube, and stop contributing to the body. Or worse, submit themselves to unaccountable, single-leader structures who keep the Biblical Calendar but don't uphold the Apostolic Church structure, don't disciple, don't appoint successors, and don't enforce what the church has already agreed upon universally... resulting in strange echo chambers completely removed from church history. Our mission is to eliminate false binaries. You can partake of the Eucharist on the first day of the week and celebrate the Biblical Passover. You can remember the Sabbath and proclaim the resurrection on the Lord’s Day. Welcome back to the 1st Century Church.

1. The Apostolic Council of Jerusalem (Acts 15) • We reject circumcision or the Law of Moses as a means of salvation. • We affirm salvation by grace through faith, for Jew and Gentile alike. • We affirm abstaining from idolatry, sexual immorality, blood, and eating unclean as baseline fellowship requirements during the Holy gatherings, while recognizing continued weekly instruction from Moses being proclaimed (Acts 15:21).

2. Nicaea I (325) • We reject Arianism and all claims that the Son is a created being. • We affirm that Yeshua/Jesus is fully God, eternally begotten of the Father, of one essence (homoousios) with Him.

3. Constantinople I (381) • We affirm the full divinity and personhood of the Holy Spirit. • We affirm the completed Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creed as the Church’s Trinitarian standard.

4. Ephesus (431) • We affirm that Yeshua/Jesus is one person, not divided into two subjects. • We reject Nestorianism • We affirm the term Theotokos as Mary truly is the mother of God incarnate.

5. Chalcedon (451) • We affirm that Messiah is fully God and fully man, in two natures, without confusion, change, division, or separation, united in one person (hypostasis). • We reject Monophysitism and while we affirm Chalcedonian Christology, we recognize that Miaphysite traditions historically confess the full divinity and humanity of Christ, and we do not treat this disagreement as church-dividing.

6. Constantinople II (553) • We affirm the continuity of Chalcedonian Christology against all distortions.

7. Constantinople III (680–681) • We affirm that Messiah possesses two wills and two energies, divine and human, united without conflict. • We reject Monothelitism, affirming that Yeshua’s human will truly obeyed the Father.

Saul & Brianna Ruiz

About Our Leadership

We happily admit we are a church in progress and not a church yet by Apostolic standards. We do not collect tithes. We see ourselves as complimentary to your Sunday church, not competition. We take seriously the sin of schism (Galatians 5:20), we attend a Sunday church ourselves, and affirm all believers should be submitted to biblically qualified elders somewhere. Not contributing to the body is a serious sin. Lord willing, our goal is to baptize, disciple, and appoint more biblically qualified elders & deacons so that this grows into a fully functioning church. For now, Saul serves as overseer of this gathering alongside his wife Brianna as deaconess.

Saul is currently a student at IOCS in Cambridge, where he is pursuing a diploma in Orthodox Christian studies. Saul is a husband, father of 3 children, and is not self appointed. He was appointed a teacher by a previous Messianic congregation before removing himself to start 1st Century Church.

He also holds multiple academic credentials including:

  • Two course certificates from Tel Aviv University through coursera on the Modern History of Israel
  • A diploma from the Judaic Studies Institute in Basic Messianic Theology
  • A certificate from the Judaic Studies Institute in Jewish History
  • Two patristics course certificates from the Institute of Catholic Culture, where he studied the Church Fathers before and after the Council of Nicaea under Dr. John Pepino
  • A certificate in Islamic History from Al Balagh Academy, where he studied under Muslim scholar Ovamir Anjum, covering Islam from the Quranic period to modernity
